Thermometers for low temperature Magic Angle Spinning NMR.
The measurement of temperature in a Magic Angle Spinning NMR probe in the temperature range 85-300K is discussed. It is shown that the shift of the (119)Sn resonance of Sm(2)Sn(2)O(7) makes a good thermometer with shift being given by delta=223 - 9.54x10(4)/Tppm and a potential precision of better than 0.5K over the entire temperature range. The sensitivity is such (e.g. 4.2ppm/K at 150K) that ...
متن کاملMagic Angle Spinning NMR Metabolomics.
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is a nondestructive, quantitative, reproducible, untargeted and unbiased method that requires no or minimal sample preparation, and is one of the leading analytical tools for metabolomics research [1-3]. The easy quantification and the no need of prior knowledge about compounds present in a sample associated with NMR are advantageous over other tech...
متن کاملEnvironmental NMR: High-resolution Magic-angle Spinning
Environmentally significant materials including soils, plant tissues, melanin pigments, and urban surface films possess swollen or swellable constituents that are not studied ideally using either solutionor solid-state NMR. Beginning in the 1970s and accelerating during the past 15 years, high-resolution (HR)-MAS techniques have been developed to study these challenging materials, yielding unpr...
متن کاملMultiple-quantum magic-angle spinning and dynamic-angle spinning NMR spectroscopy of quadrupolar nuclei.
Several aspects of the Multiple-Quantum Magic-Angle Spinning (MQMAS) technique (L. Frydman and J.S. Harwood, J. Am. Chem. Soc., 117 (1995) 5367) are compared with Dynamic-Angle Spinning (DAS). Examples of MQMAS spectra are shown for I = 3/2 nuclei with CQ up to 3.6 MHz, and for 27Al (I = 5/2) with CQ up to 10 MHz. The MQMAS linewidth is largely independent of the magnitude of the homonuclear di...
متن کاملProton magic-angle spinning-NMR investigation of surfactant aqueous suspensions.
In this Note we present the advantages of 1H magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS-NMR) for the investigation of surfactant suspensions via transverse relaxation rate (R2) measurements. 1H-relaxation rates can be determined by the classical CPMG method from high-resolution spectra obtained either under conditions of liquid-state NMR for monomers and small spherical micelles or by...
